Thornton View Shop Fire
PRESS RELEASE
On Saturday, April 23rd, at 5:38am, Kittitas County Fire District #7 firefighters responded to a structure fire located at 220 Thornton View Road in Cle Elum. Kittitas County Fire District #7 Deputy Chief arrived on scene first with Engine 731 and Water Tender 711 arriving minutes later. KCFD7 crews arrived and quickly upgraded to a second alarm to call for additional resources from around upper county. Firefighters from Roslyn Fire Department as well as Kittitas County Fire District 6 responded.
Crews quickly protected a nearby structure from the fire, preventing further damage and saving the structure. Unfortunately the fire spread to nearby vehicles which were destroyed.
A total of 11 fire department vehicles responded: four engines, one ladder truck, one air/rehab unit, one rescue truck, two tenders, one brush truck, and two command vehicles. A total of 20 fire personnel responded.
No civilians or firefighters were injured in the fire which was contained to the detached shop. The cause of the fire is not yet determined.
